GEOCELL Georgia is the second largest operator in Georgia, with approximately 2 million subscribers.

Challenge

In their race to become the leading operator in Georgia, GEOCELL understood that a high-performance network was a critical component in achieving this goal. They felt that a team of experts would be able to improve the performance of their network.

TEOCO’s Solution

TEOCO proposed a 4-month audit and optimization project focused on improving their 2G, 3G and 4G Ericsson network. The scope was tailored to the specific needs of GEOCELL; delivered by a dedicated on-site team who were also supported by a centralized TEOCO back office. This resulted in a more cost-effective delivery than a 100% on-site team could provide. The project was broken down into 4 key stages:

  • Network audit – development of an optimization plan, following audits on performance, capacity, features and parameters.
  • Optimization – parameter and feature tuning, 2G frequency plan and 3G coverage and interference optimization.
  • Network evolution – coverage hole identification, capacity expansion plans and an impact-based roll out plan.
  • Knowledge transfer and warranty – technical workshop, knowledge transfer and a 1-month remote network monitoring service.

Value Generated

Following the service, the GEOCELL network showed significant improvements in all areas, with their 2G drop rate improving by over 20% and their 3G drop rate improving by over 37%.
