NFV/SDN
Network Function Virtualization (NFV) introduces a new way to design, deploy, and manage network services. It delivers multiple benefits on both the business and the operational levels, enabling shorter time to market for new services, along with greater agility and flexibility. Yet, the transition to NFV comes with a set of new challenges for assuring high-quality services, especially in hybrid networks that combine physical and virtual components.
NFV-based networks require a new breed of service assurance that goes a step further – providing an end-to-end view of incredibly complex and dynamic environments. Service providers demand a service assurance solution that is more agile and equipped with advanced machine learning tools. These tools are necessary to provide valuable insights that support closed-loop automation, self-healing and zero-touch management.
TEOCO’s Helix Service Assurance suite addresses these NFV challenges by providing a complete end-to-end umbrella solution for effectively monitoring network resources and services. It supports multiple vendors and technologies that provide physical and virtualized hybrid network infrastructures.
Service providers can rely on Helix to ensure maximum service availability and quality of their enterprise SD-WAN services. By deploying Helix, service providers gain access to proactive service management, faster problem response and resolution processes, and improved service assurance automation and integration. It provides full closed-loop resolutions, and delivers added value for customers via a self-monitoring portal.

COLLECTION, REPORTING & ANALYTICS OVER NFV DATA SOURCES
Helix Service Assurance fully supports the unified collection of assurance data from multi-layered NFV networks, leveraging data from NFV Infrastructures (NFVi), Virtual Network Functions (VNFs), network services, and customer services. The collected data is used to support various Helix Analytic’s applications.
Supporting modern NFV Management Architectures
In support of the dynamic nature of NFV management architectures, the Helix solution integrates with your primary network management systems that provide such services as service onboarding, provisioning, network monitoring, automated healing, network optimization and more. These include MANO systems and end-to-end network orchestrators (open-source and commercial).
OPEN APIs
The Helix solution provides modern, off-the-shelf APIs, including REST and native TOSCA and YAML support. Critical for communication and data exchange with applications within the larger OSS/BSS environment, examples include E2E orchestration systems, ONAP, NFV orchestrators and SDN controllers (commercial and open source).
MACHINE-LEARNING & ADVANCED ANALYTICS
Helix utilizes descriptive and predictive algorithms that spot trends and anomalies, helping pinpoint network problems and predict evolving issues. The system automatically identifies the root-cause of network and service problems and prevents degradations as they develop. These functions are integrated into the operational processes to support both automated healing and the manual processes of operations centers and engineering teams.
AUTOMATED, CLOSED-LOOP PROCESSES
Helix can detect metadata-based behavior changes within your network, enabling a variety of closed-loop use cases that automate the identification and resolution of a root-cause or anomaly. Helix automates assurance policies that control its behavior and its interactions with the surrounding management systems.
Unified, Metadata-based Repository
The Helix Unified Repository uses an extended version of TM Forum’s SID-aligned data model, caching service & resource level configuration and topology data. The metadata-based data model supports physical and virtual infrastructures, including virtual machines, virtual infrastructure resources and virtual networking applications across various domains and NFV use cases (vCORE, SD-WAN, vRAN and other). At the service layer, both customer-facing services and resource-facing services are supported.
