Performance Management

Our Helix® Performance Management software tool monitors, optimizes and troubleshoots complex, multi-technology, multi-vendor, fixed, mobile or converged networks. It provides a single, aligned, performance and service management view across all domains and vendors in the network.

It  collects, analyzes and presents network quality of service (QoS), availability and traffic (capacity) information, and proactively detects irregular network behavior and service degradations in near real-time, helping your engineers solve problems and improve network performance.

Helix® performance management software brought together the market leading AIRCOM OPTIMA and the strength of TEOCO’s Netrac. Integrating the strongest components of each product into a single offering has resulted in a best-in-class performance and service management solution with unmatched multi-technology multi-domain support.

Dashboards, alarms and push notifications keep engineers constantly updated with the current status of the network and allows them to proactively detect service degradations. Intelligent trending of historical data and advanced algorithms help predict network utilization, ensuring capacity upgrades can be implemented before customers are affected.

TrafficGuard is a state-of-the-art module that proactively assures quality of service by detecting irregular network and service behavior in real-time and generates Threshold Crossing Alarms (TCAs) based on “Smart Thresholds”. TrafficGuard alerts can be distributed to our Helix® Fault Management software and external systems. These alerts can also be shared with multiple users and organizations, including customers. TrafficGuard offers an intuitive, web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) to administer all thresholds in the system, including creation, modification, and activation.

As part of  Helix® Performance Management solution, we offer advanced predictive algorithms and analytics solutions. Adaptive thresholds can foresee the values of counters and KPI boundaries and prevent degradations before they occur, while our dedicated forecasting system based on SARIMA (Seasonal Auto-Regression Integrated Moving Average) statistical analysis model can manage incomplete data.

Once performance problems are identified, the next step is to identify the cause of the degradation. Powerful root-cause analysis workflows and KPI drill-down capabilities allow engineers to quickly isolate and fix the root-cause of a problem.

Inspector is the main interface for real-time analysis and troubleshooting. It allows a user to display KPIs for the date range and network elements they wish to investigate. Data can be displayed in both a data grid, or graphically on a number of user specified chart types. Multiple charts can be plotted to simplify comparing data across elements and over time. You can also link modules to provide powerful drill-down functions to help pinpoint problems, both across time and network elements.

A network and the traffic it carries are constantly changing. Extracting maximum performance requires constant tweaking. Our performance management software provides all the information required to continually improve the network, including health check and top offender reports, as well as KPI tracking and benchmarking.

Reporter enables users to easily access web-based reports on network and service performance. Reporter makes it possible for users to detect critical problems and developing trends, and take proactive actions before these events escalate into a crisis.

Reporter uses BusinessObjects XI technology. It provides an effective platform for retrieving business information from corporate databases, and delivering interactive web pages to end-users. The BusinessObjects XI reporting functionality provides an efficient, scalable, highly searchable, and easily updated alternative to static web pages or traditional, paper-based reporting. It enables you to create, publish, and distribute reports through the web on a regular basis.

Reporter includes sets of predefined reports to suit your needs. In addition to predefined reports, you can create reports of your own with the assistance of the BusinessObjects XI Web Intelligence tool.

KPI Manager

The KPI Manager allows users with the appropriate permission level to define KPIs that are then available for all users. KPI definitions may include other KPIs within their equations, enabling high-level KPIs to be built up simply and quickly, with any changes made to the lower level KPIs immediately reflected. It also provides a KPI mapping facility between vendors. This option allows users to adopt a single KPI for all corresponding elements within a multi-vendor network.

In today’s highly competitive market, costs (or more accurately return on investment) is equally important for the success of the business. On the network side, engineers can use the utilization trending data from our performance management tool to re-distribute existing network capacity and order upgrades just-in-time, delaying capital expenditure and maximizing the return on the current network infrastructure.

Our Helix® performance management software can also generate significant OPEX savings within operations. Adopting a single end-to-end solution that is adaptable to all existing and next-generation fixed, wireless and IT networks greatly simplifies network monitoring, leading to lower administration overheads and running costs.

Our performance management software tool is part of our Helix® Service Assurance Suite. Integration with Fault Management can assist engineers during troubleshooting by highlighting any alarms on elements being investigated. This prevents engineers from, for example, spending valuable time trying to isolate a problem when it is a known hardware fault.

By feeding KPI threshold-crossing alarms from the performance and service management tool to NOC fault management operations, engineers obtain early visibility into performance and service degradations that often precede a hardware failure. This helps to reduce the mean time to repair network components.
